My research focuses on the truth bias in linguistic communication. By means of psychological experiments, I test whether people are capable of accurately assessing and efficiently filtering out misinformation. In my studies I have identified a strong tendency to believe statements we hear and read, even in situations entailing high personal stakes. I am interested both in the cognitive underpinnings of this tendency and on the conditions that may render people more vigilant.

Besides, I am interested in other social, political and cognitive aspects of beliefs. I have conducted research on belief in conspiracy theories, both from a personal–cognitive and a socio-historical perspective.
